You Must Refine Your Homiletic

Why are you not improving?

OK…

That’s a bit presumptuous…

The fact is that if you doing it regularly…you probably are improving…

But…

Are you improving as much as you should?

You may be…

But if you are not…

It could be that you ain’t connected to the Holy Ghost…

Yep…that’s a reason…

It could be that you ain’t learning how to read the text better…

Yep..that’s a reason…

It could be that you don’t have a system…

Yep…you gotta have a system…

But here is a key that I wish somebody had told me a while back…

You need a system…

You need a simple system…

BUT…

You must be refining the system daily…

So you may not be improving because you ain’t refining your system…

You are preparing sermons EXACTLY THE SAME WAY you did 5 years ago…

You don’t consult any more resources…

You don’t look at more things when you go to the text…

You don’t make use of a larger group of material…

What are you talking about Cox?

Well check it out…

I gave you a system…

Remember a while ago I sent you an emaail called A full homiletic in minutes..

And I still think it is a good system…

For folks just starting they follow the system verbatim…

But

Over time you should refine it…

Which questions do you ask the text?

You should have more questions after five years than you did in the beginning…

You should have more Bible translations that you have acquired after five years than you did in the beginning…

My point…you need a system…

Yep…

But more than that…

You must refine it…

If you need a system…

Check out Supercharge your Sermons

How do you refine it?

Work it…play with it…improvise…and see what God will turn it into…

Till next time…
