Are You The Problem?

“It’s their loss…”

A preacher said the above on social media when asked about the multiple folks who simply left the building when they found out he was preaching that morning…

His thought that he was delivering the goods and that these people who left were about to miss a powerful message that could have helped them…

But let’s get real…

Most of the time people leave because in previous sermons you just didn’t address them…

Maybe you learned some facts and you thought that you would let the people know these facts…

But did you connect those facts to the people?

Did you show how these facts apply to the people?

Did you demonstrate how those facts can help them live…

This reminds me of some of my calculus teachers. They told me how to do equations…but they didn’t tell me how to use these facts in my life…I had to find out later…from better teachers that this could be used…

Then again…maybe you thought that the people need to hear you rehash the sermon preached by a television preacher.

But did you really understand the sermon?

Did the people leave knowing how to live the demands of the gospel?

In short…when people are leaving your sermons in mass…It probably isn’t their loss…you probably need to change…

It is probably you who need to learn the principles of planning, constructing, and presenting a powerful sermon.

They say the first step to getting better is recognizing you have a problem…

If folks are leaving…you probably have a problem…

I ain’t saying you have to serve candy…I ain’t saying you have to placate sin…

I am saying…

Make sure the problem ain’t you…

By prayer…and following a complete sermon construction methodology.

You don’t have to follow mine…but you have to either create your own follow a solid one…
